With the 2008 Hurricane season just weeks away, are you ready?

Just as important, is your generator and chain saw ready? When was the last time you started either one of them? If it's been more than 6 months, chances are, they wont start!!

If your generator will start and run, run it with a small load connected at least every two weeks. Allow it run about 1/2 hour. This way you can be confident it will operate when needed.

The same holds true for your chain saw. Although a saw need not run for half an hour, it does need to run. Four or five minutes is good. Make sure the oiler systems is also working, and your chains are sharp. Always have several spare chains on hand.

Should you not be able to get them to run, take them in for repairs now. If we are threatened with a storm, everyone will be trying to get their equipment repaired. Guess what? That will probably be too late. The odds of getting your equipment repaired is about 1 in 300. Not very good odds!
