HURRICANE SEASON OVER?
Tuesday October 13th, 2009 - 5:53AM
Well gang, looks as if we have survived another hurricane season. Time to think about storing your generators. There are a few things you need to do in order to store your generators until next year.
1. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank, fuel lines and the carburetor. To do this it's easier to remove the fuel line from the carburetor and allow the fuel to drain into an approved container. If you have compressed air, blow thru the tank to remove the little bit of fuel that won't drain by itself. Remove the bowl from the carburetor and empty the remaining fuel into the approved container. Make sure all the fuel is removed and reassemble the carburetor, reattach the fuel line to the carburetor.
2. Drain the engine oil from the engine and replace with the proper amount of recommended oil.
3. When you do service your generator, please remember the enviroment and don't allow the oil and gas to leak onto the ground. Dispose of the waste properly.
Now, if you don't think you can perform this task properly, just give us a call and we can take care of it for you. If you don't have a means to dispose of the gas and oil, you can bring it to us and we will dispose of it for you. Don't have a way to get the generator to us, just call and we can make arrangements to pick it up, perform the service and return it to you.
Perform this little bit of maintenance and you should not have any issues next year when it's time to drag it out for the 2010 hurricane season.
