GENTLEMEN -- START YOUR GENERATORS !!!

Saturday June 20th, 2009 - 5:40AM

It's time to make sure you are ready for hurricane season. Does your generator operate properly? Before you try to start it, make sure the engine oil is at the proper level and there is fresh gas in the tank. If it will start and run, you've got it made. Connect a small load such as a drill motor, fan or any electrical device and let it run for about 20 minutes. It's a good idea to run your generator every 2 weeks until the end of hurricane season. You probably should change the oil if it's been in the unit since last year. Remember, unless you have a transfer switch in place, don't connect your generator to the house power system and don't run the generator in the house or closed garage.
If you have problems with your generator, bring it to THE FIXIT SHOP and we'll service it and ensure everything operates properly. Don't wait until you need the generator to see if it operates. If we have a storm, the repair shops will have more equipment to work on than you can imagine. Don't be one of the people that have to do without a generator for an extended period waiting for repairs.
