BETTER TO REPAIR THAN REPLACE

Wednesday February 11th, 2009 - 5:23AM

With the economic mess we all seem to find ourselves in, should you repair or replace your outdoor power equipment? In most cases, repair is less expensive than replacement. Several factors should be considered in making this decision.
1. Condition of the equipment overall.
2. Age of the equipment.
3. Brand of equipment (Basic "boxstore" brand or quality brand)
4. What will the approximate repair costs be?

Most good repair shops will tell you what they think you should do. Generally, if the repair cost exceed about 60% to 70% of replacement cost, by all means, replace it.

If you do replace rather than repair, talk with an independant dealer to see what's the best brands on the market. These brands will cost a little more up front, but , are really less expensive over the long run.

At the FIXIT SHOP, we sell ECHO POWER EQUIPMENT. We have no issue with telling you of other name brands such as STIHL, HUSQVARNA and KAWASAKI that will give you years of great service.
